Exile Sentences Carried Out for Hamed Rouhinejad and Ahmad Karimi

Hamed Rouhinejad was sent into exile from Evin to Zanjan prison on the night of August 26, 2010. He is accused of membership in an anti-government organization. At the same time, Ahmad Karimi, who was detained in ward 350 of Evin prison, was transferred to the courthouse, and at 7:30am on August 27th, he was sent into exile at Gonbad-e Qabus prison (in the province of Golestan) to serve his 15-year sentence without any prior notice given to his family or lawyers.

The physical condition of Kurdish activist Rahim Rashi has deteriorated after insisting to continue his hunger strike after the 36th day while detained in Mahabad prison. Rahim Rashi is now connected to IV tubes to receive nutrition. He is also receiving medical treatment.

HRANA reports that Daftar-e Tahkim Vahdat spokesperson Abdollah Momeni was returned to ward 350 (general ward) in Evin prison. Momeni endured 22 days of solitary confinement in ward 240 and he was on hunger strike for 18 of those days. Advar News reports that two other political prisoners, journalists Bahman Ahmadi Amouie and Keyvan Samimi, who were detained in solitary confinement in ward 240, were also transferred back to general ward 350.

After 22 days in solitary confinement, 12 of the political prisoners formerly on hunger strike were transferred back to ward 350 (the general ward) in Evin prison. Abdollah Momeni, Bahman Ahmadi Amouie, and Keyvan Samimi remain in solitary confinement. Samimi is still on hunger strike after 23 days.

Rahim Rash’s hunger strike, that he launched to protest against torture and his detention, has reached its 26th day. Rahim Rash is in critical condition.

Student political prisoner Majid Tavakoli was transferred from Evin to Rajai Shahr prison (I.e. Gohardasht prison). Majid’s brother Ali Tavakoli told HRANA that he has not been able to communicate with his brother. A prisoner in Rajai Shahr prison has reportedly witnessed the transfer.

Political prisoners who were recently on a hunger strike that lasted two weeks have repeatedly asked 62 year old imprisoned journalist Keyvan Samimi to end his hunger strike, however, he insists that it will continue until he and his ‘imprisoned children’ are transferred from solitary confinement to the general ward of Evin prison.

‘Hunger Strike’ Prisoners Threatened with 6 Months Solitary Confinement

Five of the 17 Evin hunger strike prisoners detained in solitary confinement cells of ward 240 were transferred to the Prosecutor’s office. The prisoners (Kouhyar Goodarzi, Bahman Ahmad Amouie, Keyvan Samimi, Gholamhossein Arashi, and Ali Malihi) were threatened with six months imprisonment in solitary confinement, even though 20 days is the maximum allowed time spent in solitary confinement for wards covered by the Prisons Organization.
More than 70 Prisoners Suddenly Executed in Mashhad

There are reports that in the past few days more than 70 people detained in Mashhad prison were executed suddenly and without prior notice. Based on the information available, prisoners under the age of 18 years were among the executed.
