Photojournalist Majid Saeedi Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

Iranian photojournalist Majid Saeedi who was arrested after the June 2009 election has been sentenced to three years in prison. Saeedi was arrested at his home on June 30, 2009 by security agents who also confiscated a number of his belongings. He was present at the court hearings of post-election defendants also known as “show-trials”. He was later released on bail.
According to Kaleme, Saeedi has worked as a photojournalist for 20 years and has worked with domestic and international press and newspapers.
Majid Saeedi stated, “If the law is to be respected, my innocence will be proven as I did nothing but fulfill my duty as a journalist. I covered Mousavi’s electoral campaign as I also did for Ahmadinejad’s campaign. Why is it that I have been tried on charges of taking photographs for Mousavi and not for Ahmadinejad?”

مجید سعیدی عکاس به سه سال زندان محکوم شد
مجید سعیدی ، عکاس ایرانی که پس از انتخابات بازداشت شده بود به سه سال حبس تعزیری محکوم شد.

رهانا: مجید سعیدی عکاس مطبوعاتی، جمعه شب دهم تیر سال گذشته، از سوی ماموران امنیتی در منزلش بازداشت شده و ماموران بخشی از وسایل شخصی وی را نیز با خود برده بودند. وی در دادگاههای متهمان حوادث پس از انتخابات که به نام دادگاه نمایشی مشهور شد ،نیز شرکت داده شد و چندی بعد به قید وثیقه ازاد شد.
به گزارش سایت کلمه، سعیدی، بیست سال سابقه عکاسی دارد و با روزنامه ها و نشریات داخلی و رسانه های بین المللی کار کرده است.
مجید سعیدی میگوید: اگر بنا باشد به قانون احترام گذاشته شود، بیگناهی من ثابت خواهد شد زیرا من کاری به جز انجام وظیفه روزنامه نگاری خودم نکرده ام. من همانطور که همایش انتخاباتی موسوی را پوشش دادم، از همایش احمدی نژاد هم عکس تهیه کردم. چرا من را به جرم عکاسی از موسوی، نه احمدینژاد، محاکمه میکنند؟!
