TAKE ACTION NOW! Execution of Zeinab Jalalian Imminent

RAHANA - Some unconfirmed news published today states that Zeynab Jalalian is at risk of imminent execution tomorrow at dawn. To clarify these reports, we contacted Khalil Bahramian, the lawyer who attempted to represent Zeynab Jalalian. In a talk with RAHANA Bahramian stated, “After hearing the news, I followed up many times, but I was unable to obtain any news, and I don’t know if this news is true or not.” He continued, “Although she should be in the general ward of Evin prison, they have transferred her to ward 209, and this fact has only raised more concerns about her fate.”

Bahramian added, “I have no contact information for her family and relatives. That is why I have not been able to become her lawyer. If this news is true, we can only contact the UN Secretary General so that we can stop the execution through his intervention.”

Zeynab Jalalian was arrested in 2007 in Kermanshah (in the west of Iran, in the Iranian Kurdish area) and was transferred to Kermanshah prison. After a period when there was no news on the location of her detention, it was finally reported that she was transferred to ward 209 of Evin prison. The reason for the transfer remains unclear.

Editor’s note: According to Iran News Agency, Zeynab Jalalian’s file was sent to the “Execution of Sentences” office. Prison officials are awaiting final permission from higher officials before carrying through with the upheld execution.

خلیل بهرامیان: برای نجات زینب جلالیان با دبیر کل سازمان ملل تماس بگیرید | رهانا

خلیل بهرامیان، وکیل دادگستری می‌گوید: در صورت صحت خبر اجرای حکم اعدام تنها نقطه‌ی امید برای نجات زینب جلالیان تماس دبیر کل سازمان ملل و مداخله‌ی مستقیم او است.

رهانا: امروز اخبار تایید نشده‌ای منشتر شده که خبر از اجرای قریب‌الوقوع حکم اعدام زینب جلالیان در سحرگاه فردا می‌دهد. بدین منظور با خلیل بهرامیان وکیل دادگستری تماس گرفتیم.

خلیل بهرامیان که چندی پیش در صدد بود تا وکالت زینب جلالیان را بگیرد، در گفت‌وگو با رهانا گفت: «بعد از شنیدن این خبر، پیگیری‌های زیادی انجام دادم ولی خبری به دست نیاورده‌ام و نمی‌دانم که این خبر صحت دارد یا نه.»

وی در ادامه گفت: «با وجود این‌که او باید هم‌اکنون در بند عمومی زندان اوین باشد، اما او را به بند ۲۰۹ زندان اوین منتقل کرده‌اند و همین امر نگرانی‌ها را درباره‌ی او شدت بخشیده است.»

این وکیل دادگستری افزود: «هیچ شماره و ارتباطی با خانواده و نزدیکان او ندارم و به همین دلیل تا کنون نتوانسته‌ام وکالت او را بر عهده بگیرم.»

بهرامیان هم‌چنین گفت: « در صورت صحت این خبر در حال حاضر تنها کاری که از دست ما بر می‌آید، تماس با دبیرکل سازمان ملل است، تا با مداخله‌‌ی او بتوانیم پی‌گیر وضعیت او باشیم و از اجرای حکم اعدام جلوگیری کنیم.»

زینب جلالیان در سال ۱۳۸۶ در کرمانشاه بازداشت و به زندان کرمانشاه منتقل شده بود. چندی پیش بعد از مدتی بی‌خبری، مشخص شد که وی به بند ۲۰۹ زندان اوین منتقل شده است. از علت این انتقال اطلاعی در دست نیست.
