Female Prisoner Fatemeh Rahnama Exiled to Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz

Fatemeh Rahnama’s family who has no news of her for over a week learned of her whereabouts when Fatemeh, who is suffering from severe mental and emotional stress, contacted her family by phone yesterday and informed them of her transfer to Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz. She is the legal and religious wife of Shapour Kazemi who is the brother of Zahra Rahnavard. State media however has portrayed her as the ‘mistress’.

Dr. Ali Asghar Gharavi on Hunger Strike

Ali Asghar Gharavi, a National-Religious activist, was detained along with the Secretary-General of the Iran Freedom Movement Ebrahim Yazdi, Hashem Sabaghian, Ghafar Farzodi and several other Freedom Movement of Iran activists on October 1, 2010. His wife Alizadeh stated that there is a lot of concern as to his health since he is on hunger strike and is suffering from back ailments. His wife also mentioned that he had been detained 6 times and had never been mistreated to this extent.

*Two Student Activists of Elm O Sanat University Get Sum of 4-term Suspension

Hamid Bidar (pictured right) and Navid Ataei (pictured left), two students from Elm o Sanat University (University of Science and Technology)  have been given each a 2 term suspension from college. They were charged in the aftermath of the 2009 election for holding and attending student protests.  Hamid  is a 5th year computer engineering student and Navid is a 5th year civil engineering student.

Amir Hossein Fotouhi Sentenced to 4 Years Imprisonment

Student activist Amir Hossein Fotouhi has been sentenced to 4 years in prison following his trial which was held at branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court. Fotouhi is the former head of the Student Islamic Association at Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences and is a member of the Office for Fostering Unity. During Iran’s rigged presidential election in June 2009, Fotouhi was a member of the campaign team for the presidential candidate Mehdi Karroubi in the Hormozgan province.

Moghan Student Activist Siamak Mirzaei Detained

Azeri student activist Siamak Mirzaei who is a student of Rasht University was detained at his father’s house in Moghan on Saturday October 9, 2010. According to sources close to the Mirzaei family, security forces arrested Siamak Mirzaei as he was on his way to his father’s house in Moghan Parsabad to visit his family. He was currently finishing his last semester at Rasht University studying animal product engineering and has been deprived of pursuing his Masters degree.

No Word on the Condition of Student and Blogger Navid Mohebbi after 25 Days of Detention

Sources close to Navid Mohebbi’s family stated that his family is concerned about his condition since 25 days have passed since his arrest and the conditions in the Sari Intelligence Ministry Detention Center are unfavorable. He was detained at his father’s house in Amol after a raid by security forces on September 18, 2010 and transferred to the Sari Intelligence Ministry. Mohebbi was beaten while he was being arrested by the security and Intelligence authorities. He is a student activist, a blogger and a One Million Signature Campaign activist. He was beaten in the Amol Intelliegnce Ministry in 2008 after being summoned for participating in the March 8 gathering.
