Parisa Kakaee has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for “participating in gatherings and conspiracy to disturb national security” and 1 year of imprisonment for “anti-regime propaganda”. According to the Committee of Human Rights Reporters, her trial was held on October 18th. Parisa Kakaee was detained on January 1st after being summoned by the Intelligence Ministry and was released on February 17th from Evin Prison.
Mehdi Nezamoleslami, the son of the deceased Boroujerd representative in the 6th Parliament, was detained last night and transferred to an undisclosed location. Several people were guests at Nezamoleslami’s house when they were all arrested by the security forces. According to the report, except for Nezamaoleslami, all the other detainees have been released. There has been no information as to the reason for his arrest.
Various news agencies have reported the death sentence of former Esteghlal soccer player “A.A.” According to reports, a Perspolis soccer player has indicated that this individual’s death sentence has been handed down and that the execution will be carried out in the very near future. This former soccer star was arrested in August allegedly with 40 grams of crack cocaine, and since possession and distribution of narcotics. his cell mates in Rajaee Shahr prison had reported that since his arrival his hair had turned completely gray and that he had been under tremendous stress and cried continuously.
Another 23 accused of alleged possession and distribution of narcotics were secretly executed in VakilAbad prison unbeknown to their families and lawyers, even the prisoners themselves had no prior knowledge of their execution! 13 prisoners were executed on October 5th and 10 prisoners on October 12, in mass execution style and without any prior notice. These executions were carried out with no respect for Laws of the Islamic Republic and without any prosecutorial fairness. A number of former inmates have reported of authorities obtaining confessions under torture from these prisoners. The individuals were summoned only a few hours prior to the execution from various wards at the VakilAbad prison and transferred to the execution hallway situated near the entrance to the prison’s visitation hall, and executed.
Mohammad Seifzadeh has been sentenced to a 10 year ban from working as an attorney and 9 years of imprisonment for “Acting against national security” and “founding the Defenders of Human Rights Center”. In an interview with RadioFarda, he stated that the issued verdict was unlawful based on Article 159 and 172 of the Constitution. He added that such verdict was expected from an unlawful court proceeding. He denied the charges and stated that he will appeal the case. He was hopeful that he will be acquitted in the appeals court since any other decision would be unlawful and unfair. The Defenders of Human Rights Center was founded in 2002 by a group of prominent Iranian lawyers. It had announced defending the prisoners of conscience, supporting the families of political prisoners, and taking stances on human rights violations as their mission.
Two employees of the Parliament representative from Sanandaj were arrested by unknown individuals. According to the Mokrian News Agency, parliament representative Abdoljabbar Karami confirmed the report and stated that the two employees of the Public Relations Unit were arrested while distributing parts of official newspapers to students. He added that the employees of his office had distributed one of his interviews by the name of “Science Minister’s Illusion” which had been published in many local and state publications. There has been no information in regards to their condition and the possible charges.
During a press conference on Monday, Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejeai stated that their attorney has been arrested for the possession of 3 birth certificates and different identification documents, forgery and collaborating with anti-regime groups.
