Deutsche Welle – The sentence of 50 lashes for Somayeh Tohidlou, a PhD student of sociology and a campaigner for Mir Hossein Mousavi, was “symbolically” carried out in Evin prison on Wednesday. The sentence had been issued against the civil activist on the charge of “Insulting the President”.

According to the Jaras website, the 50-lash sentence was carried out while Somayeh Tohidlou’s hands and feet were chained.

Somayeh Tohidlou was born in 1978. At the time of the 2009 Iranian Presidential election, she was a campaigner for Mir Hossein Mousavi and one of the main planners of the Green Human Chain from Rah Ahan Square to Tajrish Square.

She is also a member of the central council of the Islamic Association of the College of Engineering (at the University of Tehran) and a member of the central council of the Islamic Association of the University of Tehran.

Somayeh Tohidlou was arrested on June 13, 2009, one day following the election. After 70 days of detention she was released on a 200 thousand [USD] bail (200 million tomans).  The Revolutionary Court sentenced her to one year in prison and 50 lashes, on the charge of “Insulting the President”. According to Jaras, she was pardoned from serving the one-year prison sentence but the lashing sentence was [upheld].

On Thursday, Somayeh Tohidlou posted on her FriendFeed and Google Reader that the lashing sentence had been carried out symbolically and not as it had been expected.  She wrote: “I must tell my friends who were worried about me that the execution of the sentence was symbolic and not in the way they had in mind. Therefore, they should not worry about me having endured any physical pain. Although there are unspoken facts, which I believe must be revealed at another time when my emotions and morale will not be overshadowed by the circumstances.”

Regarding the execution of this sentence, Shirin Ebadi, lawyer and Nobel Peace Prize winner, told Deutsche Welle: “The reason for the increasing naked violence of the regime is the weakness of its support bases. The regime turns more violent as it turns weaker and tries to show this naked violence to the people to intimidate them. And, in their own words, they believe in “victory by intimidation”. It is only when people fear them that they can overcome them. And lashing a PhD student and civil activist while her hands and feet are in chains is another shameful deed by a regime that bears the title of Islamic”.

Shirin Ebadi believes that the charge of “Insulting the President” has been merely a pretext and the [real] charge is that [Somayeh Tohidlou] was a campaigner for Mousavi. She said: “The real reason behind lashing her has been her participation in Mir Hossein Mousavi’s electoral campaign, otherwise, insulting the President is a common pretext. Take a look at all the pro-government newspapers, from Keyhan and Resalat to Jomhouri Eslami to pro-government websites. They are all filled with accusations and insults to the President, due to the recent political disputes. Why are the [words] of the Keyhan and Resalat newspapers not considered insults, but if a campaigner for Mir Hossein Mousavi states the same thing, then it is considered an insult? Therefore, the real reason is that this woman has participated in the electoral campaign of Ahmadinejad’s rival.”

After the execution of this sentence, Somayeh Tohidlou posted the following note on her blog: “Be happy, for if you wanted to humiliate me, I confess that I feel my entire body is suffering with degradation”.

شیرین عبادی: «اجرای حکم شلاق علیه یک فعال مدنی نشانه ضعف حکومت است»

حکم ۵۰ ضربه شلاق برای سمیه توحیدلو دانشجوی دکترای جامعه‌شناسی و عضو ستاد موسوی روز چهارشنبه ۲۳ شهریور در محل زندان اوین “به طور نمادین” اجرا شد. این حکم به اتهام توهین به رئیس‌جمهور برای این فعال مدنی صادر شده بود.

سایت جرس گزارش داد که حکم پنجاه ضربه شلاق سمیه توحیدلو، از فعالان ستاد میرحسین موسوی روز چهارشنبه ۲۳ شهریور ماه در حالی که زنجیر به دست و پایش بسته بودند، در محل زندان اوین اجرا شد.

سمیه توحیدلو متولد ۱۳۵۷ و دانشجوی مقطع دکترا در رشته جامعه‌شناسی است. وی در جریان انتخابات ریاست جمهوری سال ۸۸ از فعالان ستاد میر حسین موسوی موسوی بوده و از برنامه ریزان اصلی برپایی زنجیره انسانی سبز از راه آهن تا تجریش بوده است.

وی همچنین عضو شورای مرکزی انجمن اسلامی دانشکده فنی و عضو شورای مرکزی انجمن اسلامی دانشگاه تهران است.

خانم توحیدلو فردای روز انتخابات، ۲۳ خرداد ۸۸ بازداشت و پس از هفتاد روز با قید وثیقه دویست میلیون تومانی آزاد شد. دادگاه انقلاب وی را به یک سال زندان و به اتهام توهین به رئیس‌جمهور به پنجاه ضربه شلاق محکوم کرد.

به گزارش جرس، حکم یک سال زندان وی بخشیده شد اما حکم شلاق این دانشجوی دکترای جامعه شناسی روز ۲۳ شهریور در زندان اوین و توسط یک بازجوی مرد اجرا شد.

سمیه توحیدلو روز پنج‌شنبه ۲۴ شهریور در فرندفید و گوگل ریدر خود نوشت که حکم شلاق به صورت نمادین برای او اجرا شده و آنطور که تصورش می‌رود نبوده است. وی نوشت: «برای دوستانم که نگرانم شدند تنها بنویسم که اجرای حکم نمادین بود و به شیوه و شمایلی که در خاطر داشته‌اند و دارند نبوده است و لذا نگرانی بابت هیچگونه درد و رد فیزیکی نداشته باشند. هرچند ناگفته‌های دیگری هست که باور دارم باید در زمانی گفته شود که اتفاقات بر احساسم و اخلاقم سایه نیافکنده باشد».

شیرین عبادی حقوقدان و برنده جایزه صلح نوبل درباره این حکم به دویچه‌وله گفت: «علت خشونت روز افزون و عریان حکومت، ضعف پایگاه‌های مردمی‌اش است. حکومت وقتی ضعیف‌تر می‌شود، خشن‌تر می‌شود و سعی می‌کند این خشونت را به صورت عریان به مردم نشان دهد تا آن‌ها را مرعوب کند و به قول خودشان معتقدند “النصر بالرعب”. یعنی فقط در حالت ترس است که ما می‌توانیم بر مردم چیره شویم و شلاق زدن یک دانشجوی دکترا و یک فعال مدنی در حالتی که دست و پایش را با زنجیر بسته‌اند، لکه‌ی ننگ دیگری‌ست بر پیشانی حکومتی که نام اسلام را بر خود نهاده است».

خانم عبادی معتقد است شلاق زدن به اتهام توهین به رئیس‌جمهور تنها یک بهانه بوده و اتهام اصلی سمیه عضویت در ستاد موسوی بوده است: «علت واقعی‌ این که ایشان را شلاق زده‌اند، این بوده که در ستاد انتخاباتی میرحسین موسوی فعالیت کرده وگرنه توهین به رئیس جمهور یک سکه‌ی رایج امروز است. شما کلیه روزنامه‌های دولتی، از کیهان و رسالت گرفته تا جمهوری اسلامی و سایت‌های دولتی را نگاه کنید. تماماً سرشار از اتهام و توهین به رئیس جمهور است، به مناسبت اختلاف سیاسی که پیدا کرده‌اند. چه گونه است مطلبی را که روزنامه‌های کیهان و رسالت می‌نویسند توهین نیست، اما اگر یک عضو ستاد انتخاباتی میرحسین موسوی بگوید آن موقع می‌شود توهین. بنابراین علت اصلی در حقیقت این است که این خانم جزو ستاد انتخاباتی رقیب احمدی‌نژاد بوده است».

سمیه توحیدلو بعد از اجرای این حکم در وبلاگ شخصی‌اش نوشت: «خوشحال باش! قصدت تحقیر بود. اعتراف می‌کنم احساس تحقیرشدگی تمام وجودم را سوزاند. آنقدر که گمان نبرم که تکرار شدنی باشد. بالاخره تتمه آن انشای بلندبالا، تعزیرش برایت ماند. برای من چه ماند؟ همان آیات ِهمیشه . جلوی رویت تفأل زدم و خواندمش. زیر فشار . همان که ساحران سحرشان را افکندند و تنها خدا به موسی می گوید تو چوبدستی خود را بیانداز و نترس !‌ شیرینی آیه را وقتی درگیر سحرت بودی و ریسمان‌های ساحری را در دست داشتی نمی‌توانستی بچشی. هرچند که نه موسایی در کار بود و نه چوبدستی‌ای ‌ولی دلی بود که امروز را فراموش نمی کند، هیچوقت».
