Imprisoned activist Faranak Farid released on bail

Persian2English Women’s rights activist Faranak Farid, 50,  was released from Tabriz Central prison on a $100 (approximately) USD bail, reported Human Rights House of Iran.

Farid is also an Azerbaijani poet and translator. She had endured 43 days in the prison. She was arrested on September 3rd in Tabriz, as demonstrations were happening over the drying of Lake Orumiyeh.

According to reports, the Azerbaijani activist was severely beaten by plainclothes agents at the time of her arrest. As a result of the beating, her arm was injured and her left eardrum was seriously damaged.

During the first days of her detention, Faranak Farid was interrogated for long hours by the Tabriz Ministry of Intelligence agents. Her charges were announced as, “Insulting the Supreme Leader”, “Propaganda against the Islamic Republic regime”, and “Acting against national security”.

One of her cell mates told the Fair Family Law organization: “On the first day of her detention Faranak Farid was beaten several times by security agents to the point that her health has deteriorated and emergency medical care had to be called in. She was connected to an IV for several hours.” During Farid’s incarceration, Amnesty International issued an urgent action due to the activist’s deteriorating health.

Faranak Farid was secretary of the First Azerbaijan Women’s Congress and the editor of the women’s section of the banned journal Dilmaj and its special edition publication. She is also a member of the One Million Signatures Campaign.

فرانک فرید پس از تحمل ۴۲ روز بازداشت، با قید وثیقه صد میلیون تومان، از زندان تبریز آزاد شد.

فرانک فرید، شاعر، مترجم و فعال حقوق زنان در آذربایجان، روز ۱۲ شهریور در جریان اعتراض مردم به سیاست های دولت در قبال خشک شدن دریاچه ارومیه در تبریز بازداشت شد.

به گزارش تا قانون خانواده برابر وی هنگام بازداشت بارها مورد ضرب و شتم نیروهای امنیتی قرار گرفت که در نتیجه آن بازو و گوش وی به شدت آسیب دید.

فرانک فرید شاعر، مترجم و فعال حقوق زنان و سردبیر مسائل زنان ماهنامه‌ی توقیف شده‌ی دیلماج است. وی همچنین از اعضای کمپین یک میلیون امضا نیز هست. از کتاب‌های وی می‌توان به «یوخودا آییلماق» و «شعر توپلوسو » اشاره کرد.
