Stoning sentence confirmed for two women charged with adultery
January 16, 2010According to the Prisoners Unit of Human Rights Activists in Iran, branch 12 of the Court of Appeal in western Azarbaijjan confirmed the death by stoning sentence for two defendants accused of adultery.
The defendants have been identified as 30 year old Sarimeh Ebadi (mother of two children) and 32 year old Vali Janfeshani (mother of one child). They are sentenced to death by stoning for committing adultery. The sentence was approved and confirmed Wednesday January 6, 2010 by the provincial Court of Appeal.
Currently, the two defendants are being held in Orumieh’s central prison (northwestern Iran). In addition to the vague and ambiguous judicial process that resulted in the sentence, the defendants were also not able to adequately defend themselves since they were deprived of the right to select their own defense lawyer.
The punishment of death by stoning is considered one of the most prominent issues of concern and objection for human rights activists.

کزارش تکمیلی : محکومیت دو شهروند به سنگسار
حکم سنگسار دو متهم یک پرونده به اتهام زنای محصنه در دادگاه تجدید نظر استان آذربایجان غربی تایید شد.
به گزارش واحد زندانیان مجموعه فعالان حقوق بشر در ایران، پیرو گزارش پیشین در این رابطه “سریمه عبادی، 30 ساله، دارای دو فرزند” و “بوعلی جانفشانی، 32 ساله و دارای یک فرزند” هویت و مشخصات دو متهم پرونده فوق الذکر اعلام می شود.
این دو شهروند پیش تر از سوی دادسرای عمومی شهر ارومیه به اتهام زنای محصنه به سنگسار محکوم شده بودند که این حکم چهارشنبه هفته گذشته مورخ 16 دیماه در شعبه 12 دادگاه تجدید نظر استان تائید شد. هم اکنون هر دو متهم در زندان مرکزی ارومیه به سر می برند. لازم به ذکر است علاوه بر پروسه مبهم قضایی این حکم در حالی صادر می شود که متهمان فاقد وکیل مدافع منتخب و امکان دفاع از خود بوده اند.
صدور احکام سنگسار در ایران یکی از موارد برجسته اعتراضی مدافعان حقوق بشر محسوب می شود که علاوه بر موضوع سلب حیات بسیاری آن را نوعی شکنجه مرگ آور می .خوانند

It’s hard for me to comprehend the death penalty let alone stoning women – even if they are guilty of anything..After i saw a few filmed stonings, i was consumed with grief not just for these poor women, but also for humanity. We HAVE to stop this madness immediately. It is a dark and cruel sickness of the psyche and must be healed.
This is what happens when you give men power. Please consider, what would the world be like if women were in control? NOTHING like this. It makes me ashamed to be alive in this world with people who actually participate in these tortures. It makes me ashamed for the human race.

i have watched stoning videos in saddness and fear i am 17 years old and i have never known the world to have so much hate, war and barbaric actions. i pray for those women who are treated like trash because of a male-dominant government. men cheat, women cheat but why are the women only killed? why do countries like theese have so much hatred for women on unproven crimes but love for men with vengeful hearts? my mother said she would never bring another child into this world, simply because of all the hate i hope humanity returns back to itself.. it has clearly gone astray.
