Iran News Agency – 4:00pm Tehran: Around 700-800 security forces deployed around Ponak area (Tehran West). In Ponak Square, between Ashrafi Isfahani Street and Sadeghiyeh, clashes broke out between citizens and police. Caged police vehicles [vehicles that have cages to imprison protesters] from Aria Shahr arrived in the area and sporadically fired tear gas in the streets. There are no mobile telephone signals, and around Azadi Square, protesters chant “Death to the Dictator” and “Government thugs, get lost” and pelt the security forces with rocks. The police beat people with batons, dispersing them. They also fired tear gas between First Square and Second Square (in Sadeghiyeh). Around 100 motorcycles were also brought to the scene to intimidate protesters.
