Persistence of families in front of Evin results in additional releases

According to a report by Human Rights and Democracy Activists in Iran, the gathering of families of (recent) detainees across the main gate of Evin prison resulted in the release of a number of prisoners.

On the evening of Sunday February 14th, families of political prisoners, recently released prisoners, the Mourning Mothers, and other citizens of Tehran gathered in front of Evin to demand the unconditional release of their detained family members and friends.

In order to disperse the demonstrators, the prison wardens announced that no prisoner would be freed that night. The protesters refused to leave and vowed to return every night until their loved ones were released.

Around 8:15pm, the persistence of the protesters paid off when the wardens began releasing a number of those arrested on Ashura and 22 Bahman (February 11, 2010). As of an hour ago [editor's note: the original Farsi article was written on the 14th of February. The number of released prisoners may have increased] sixteen people have been released. The released political prisoners were embraced and met with tears of joy from their loved ones. The sound of clapping, whistling, and Salavaat (Shia chant) turned the cold winter of oppression behind the gates of Evin into the spring of happiness and freedom.

The released political prisoners lifted their hands and smiled in a gesture of gratitude to the gathered protesters.

The families distributed food, water, and sweets. The sense of solidarity that permeated the event is indescribable. The families of those released in the past nights were also present and distributing sweets. The demonstrations continued until 11:30pm.

Families of recent detainees have been gathering in front of Evin prison since Ashura (December 27, 2009) to demand the immediate and unconditional release of their loved ones.

فعالین حقوق بشر و دمکراسی در ایران

پاسداران و نیروهای سرکوبگر با دیدن فضای صمیمی و هبستگی بین خانواده و مردم برای ایجاد نگرانی هر از چند گاهی اعلام می کنند که دیگر کسی را آزاد نمی کنیم و با این تهدیدات غیر انسانی سعی در ایجاد نگرانی و فشار روحی بر خانواده ها بر می آیند.

صحنه های همبستگی که بین خانواده ها حاکم است غیر قابل توصیف می باشد: خانواده با آوردن غذا،میوه ،آب و شیرینی و پخش آن در بین جمعیت حاضر اقدام می کنند. خانواه های که عزیزان آنها در شبهای قبل آزاد شده اند با بسته های شیرینی به میان جمعیت می آیند و آنرا پخش می کنند.تجمع خانواده ها و مردم تا ساعت 23:30 ادامه می یابد.

زندانیان سیاسی آزاد شده با بلند کردن دستهای خود ولبخند زدن از حاضرین تشکر می کردند.

با پافشاری و ایستادگی خانواده ها و مردم حوالی ساعت 20:15 شروع به آزادی تعدادی از دستگیر شدگان روز عاشورا و 22 بهمن کردند و تا ساعت 10:20 بیش از 16 نفر آزاد شدند. زندانیان سیاسی که با شور و هیجان حاضرین مواجه می شدند اشک شوق از چشمان آنها جاری می شد. خانواده ها عزیزان خود را در آغوش می گرفتند و همزمان صدای دست زدن،سوت کشیدن و صلوات فرستادن فضای سرد زمستانی و اختناق که در پشت حصارهای بلند اوین توسط استبداد حاکم شده است به بهار شادی و نوید آزادی تبدیل می شود.

یکشنبه غروب 25 بهمن ماه خانواده های زندانیان سیاسی ،زندانیان آزاد شده روهای اخیر،مادران عزادار و مردم تهران در مقابل زندان اوین تجمع کردند و بر آزادی فرزندان در بندشان پافشاری می کردند. زندانبانان برای پراکنده کردن تجمع کنندگان اعلام کردند که امشب آزادی نخواهیم داشت که با اعتراض حاضرین مواجه شدند و آنها گفتند تا آزادی تمامی عزیزانمان هر شب در این جا تجمع خواهیم کرد.

بنابه گزارشات رسیده به فعالین حقوق بشر و دمکراسی در ایران،خانواده های دستگیر شدگان روز عاشورا تا 22 بهمن در مقابل درب اصلی زندان اوین تجمع کردند و خواستار آزادی فوری و بی قید وشرط عزیزان خود شدند.
